Zing Muse – Actress Fan Bingbing is gradually asserting her impressive comeback, but not on the Chinese screen, but in the cosmetics business.
According to page 163 and the Top 100 Chinese Cosmetic Brands 2024 ranking announced by China Beauty Web, Fan Bingbing’s Fan Beauty brand achieved revenue of 1.45 billion yuan (equivalent to about 200 million USD), ranking 35th nationwide. This is considered a great step forward for a brand founded by an artist, in the context that Fan Bingbing has not yet been completely “unblocked” in the domestic market.
Fan Beauty’s main product is a skin care mask – which once caused a fever when 100,000 boxes were sold in just 10 seconds during a livestream with “livestream king” Li Jiaqi, earning nearly 20 million yuan.
Fan Bingbing, born in 1981, was once a top star in the Chinese entertainment industry, famous for films such as Hoan Chau Cach Cach, The Legend of Wu Meiniang… However, after the shocking tax evasion scandal in 2018, she almost disappeared from domestic film projects.
Refusing to back down, Fan Bingbing has quietly shifted to the international market and developed her own beauty brand. Besides doing business, she still appears regularly at major events such as the Cannes Film Festival, Oscars, international fashion weeks, maintaining a classy and trendy image.
In particular, Fan Bingbing was invited to be a judge at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival, becoming the only Asian artist on the art council, which has somewhat affirmed her position on the international cultural map, despite domestic barriers.
