Los Angeles, CA – In a brutal and shocking crime that has stunned both the music world and Hollywood, longtime American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband, composer Thomas Deluca, were found fatally shot at their private Encino estate, valued at approximately $4.5 million.
According to recent People-released documents, both victims, aged 70, sustained multiple gunshot wounds on July 10, around 4:45 PM, upon returning home from grocery shopping. Mrs. Deluca was killed instantly, while Mr. Deluca briefly resisted before succumbing to his injuries. Yet only on July 14, at 4:14 PM, did Los Angeles police discover their bodies—a discrepancy spotlighted in official death records.
Medical examiner records were updated from July 23 to August 4, revealing that both underwent autopsies; the couple was ultimately cremated on July 23.
Initial investigations describe a horrifying scene: the mansion’s front door wasn’t locked, and the alarm system was disarmed. The victims were shot at close range, apparently with their own firearm, in a cold, execution-style attack. A mysterious intruder—seen wearing a baseball cap, gray shirt, and black sandals—had likely been waiting inside. Emergency calls to 911 were made on the day of the incident, but the bodies remained undiscovered until a friend raised the alarm four days later.
Authorities quickly identified and arrested 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian on July 17. At a courthouse appearance on August 20 in Van Nuys, he appeared visibly distressed and unresponsive. Due to apparent suicide ideation, a judge transferred him to a psychiatric facility for evaluation before proceeding with trial.
